January 2004 – A blaze broke out in an apartment at the Lutheran Homes of Oshkosh, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Firefighters battling the blaze were hampered by the extremely cold temperatures but were eventually able to contain and extinguish the fire. Ten (10) units were completely destroyed and 16 units had heavy smoke and water damage. Twelve (12) units had moderate smoke damage and the remaining units had minor smoke damage.
These units required a thorough cleaning and painting, replacement of carpeting and cleaning of ductwork. This work was completed within the next thirty days allowing 12 more units to be placed back into service.
Concurrent with this work, selective demolition and reconstruction in the wing with the heavy damage began. This work required the removal of debris, rebuilding structural walls, replacement of the roof system, and replacement of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in the middle of a Wisconsin winter.
Through the professionalism and hard work, GuideOne Taylor Ball in close coordination with GuideOne Insurance and Lutheran Homes of Oshkosh all units were completed and reoccupied by the 4th of July, less than 6 months for beginning to completion, resulting in almost all of the occupants returning to their completely renovated apartments.
