A lightning strike ignited a fire which destroyed the 33,000 square foot Garden City Baptist Church facility located in Murrells Inlet, SC. On June 29, 2009 just 8 hours after notification and 24 hours after the fire; the GuideOne Insurance National Property Claims Supervisor along with Tommy Lundberg, President of GuideOne Taylor Ball Construction services (GTB) was onsite assessing the damage and addressing the Garden City Baptist Church logistical concerns.
The churches main concern was site safety and the quick removal of the fire damaged structure; next is the immediate need to redesign a new facility and begin reconstruction as quickly as possible. For this the Garden City Baptist Church turned to GTB. GTB started demolition July 13, 2009 and has scheduled the first design team meeting for July 22, 2009. GTB anticipates a design through reconstruction period of 12 to 16 months. |
