An extremely large and violent tornado outbreak, the largest outbreak ever recorded occurred April 25 - 28, 2011. The outbreak affected the South, Midwest, and Northeast of the United States. One of the hardest hit states and leaving catastrophic destruction in its wake, was the state of Alabama. In total, 353 tornadoes were confirmed by the National Weather Service in 2011, with the outbreak on April 27 being among the most prolific and destructive tornado days in United States history with a record 208 tornadoes touching down that day alone. Within the first week all churches were operational in temporary facilities, six months following the First Baptist Church of Moody, AL and The Community Presbyterian Church of Moody, AL were fully repaired and operational. |
