A December 2005 fire, apparently started by furnace equipment, destroyed the church sanctuary, classrooms, offices and library. GuideOne Taylor Ball’s response professional on site quickly brought in temporary trailers for the church office and classrooms. The congregation continued meeting in its multipurpose gymnasium, which survived the fire, while they planned for the future.
That future, the congregation decided, should take place at a new location with more space for parking and future development. The chairman of the building committee, a commercial general contractor, saw the wisdom of not being financially involved in the construction of his own church, and became an active partner with GuideOne Taylor Ball in building a new church facility from the ground up on their new land.
Matt Springfield was a construction industry professional for 10 years before taking a full-time ministry position. Serving as the preaching minister at Tamarack Road Church of Christ, he saw, up close, the action taken by GuideOne Taylor Ball’s project manager, Dave Franklin. “I can not remember a time when I worked with a general contractor more committed to professionalism, honesty and integrity (than Dave Franklin),” wrote Springfield. “For anyone who might have the opportunity to work with Dave in the future, they will have no regrets regarding his work and commitment.”
Bob Mills, a member of the church’s building committee and a general contractor himself for 25 years said “Dave is a very experienced, well-trained and dedicated project manager. He has represented our interests and goals to the highest degree.”
The building committee also credited Dave’s management for bringing the project in under budget and saving the congregation substantially.
