An electrical fire did significant damage to this historic 1882 church. Fire rose through all three floors of the church causing complete devastation to the balcony, fellowship hall & kitchen, organ room, and classrooms. Smoke and water damage was also significant in the sanctuary, narthex, and many other areas of the building. Debris removal and reconstruction began almost immediately after the fire. Many improvements were made to the church as a result of the loss. A library and five new classrooms were added, electrical wiring updated, and an elevator lift has been added along with other upgraded items to make the building easily accessible to all. The church officially reopened July 5, 2000. Construction cost was $1.5 million.
